Notes: Depicts Ulla Troil (Norna) attending to the shipwrecked Clement Cleveland, with Mordaunt Mertoun and Bryce the Pedlar looking on [Ch. 7]. Forms (attached) frontispiece to vol. 1 of Bodleian copy of first edition of ‘The Pirate’, 3 vols (1822), interpreted in Todd & Bowden 156Dk as containing the three plates from ‘Illustrations of The Pirate’ (1825). Plate carries imprint of Hurst, Robinson, & Co., London, 1825. The image is identical to that at #NTE0019, and was later printed in ‘The Waverley Album’ (London: Charles Heath, [1832]), facing p. 37 (see image).
