Notes: Depicts the Grand Master, on his elevated seat, staff in hand, condemning Rebecca, who turns away, with the figure of Higg on crutches to the side [Ch. 37]. Imprint of Hurst, Robinson, & Co., London (the secondary publishers on title-page). Also appears in 'A New Series of Illustrations of the Historical Romances of "The Author of Waverley"' (London: Hurst, Robinson, & Co., 1824) (see image), and in 'The Waverley Album' (London: Charles Heath, [1832]), facing p. 25. Vol. also includes title-page vignette of Abbey of St Mary, Kirkcaldy as in vol. 2 of 1822 12mo issue, but with engraver given as Edward Finden.
