Notes: Depicts Richard Coeur de Lion in black armour drinking at a table with Friar Tuck (as the Clerk) in his hermitage, with a dog at their feet, and torch behind them lighting the room [Ch. 16]. Imprint of Hurst, Robinson, & Co., London (the secondary publishers on title-page). Also appears in 'A New Series of Illustrations of the Historical Romances of "The Author of Waverley"' (London: Hurst, Robinson, & Co., 1824) (see image), and in 'The Waverley Album' (London: Charles Heath, [1832]), facing p. 27. Vol. also includes title-page vignette of Castle of Torquilstone, as in vol. 1 of 1822 12mo issue, but with engraver given as Edward Finden.
