Notes: Depicts Sir Geoffrey Peveril mounted on Black Hastings impeding the path of Major Bridgenorth, who rides a white stallion [Ch. 7] Imprint of Hurst, Robinson, & Co., London (the secondary publishers on title-page). Todd & Bowden place this plate in vol. 5. Also appears in 'The Waverley Album' (London: Charles Heath, [1832]), facing p. 45 (see image). Present vol. also includes title-page vignette of Camlet Moat as in vol. 4 of 1824 12mo issue, but with engraver given as Edward Finden.
