Notes: Depicts harbour at Eyemouth, as in the present time, with reference to the quick-sands in the closing stages of the story. Accompanying quoted texts (p. 110), with reference to Magnum Opus edition: 'When the last Laird . . . lost for evermore!' [4 lines verse] / Bride of Lammermoor, Vol. XIV, p. 128' and 'The links by the sea-shore . . . our only weapons. / Vol. XIV, p. 363.' See Chs 18 & 32; EEWN 7a, 139, 265. Originally issued as part of a separate number in 1830. Compare Tilt's 'Landscape Illustrations', #LIW0034, also of Links of Eyemouth, stated to be from a drawing by Skene, and where the composition is similar, though with minor variations (e.g. figures in foreground).
