Notes: A collage of different portraits of Scott, mounted on a bookshelf, with dogs seated and armaments strewn below. At the top centre is the Bath miniature of Scott, painted in 1767 or 1777, attributed to Abraham Daniels (See Russell, Francis, 'Portraits of Sir Walter Scott' (London: White Brothers, 1987), Item 43, pp. 36-37). On the left is the Francis Legatt Chantrey bust of Scott, sculpted 1820 (See Russell, Item 33, pp. 33-34). On the right is the portrait of Scott painted by John Watson Gordon in 1830 (See Russell, Item 55, pp. 40-41), and engraved to adorn the Magnum Opus, Fisher, and Centenary editions of the Waverley Novels (See #MAG0065, #FIS0001, and #CEN0001). In the centre is the full-length portrait of Scott in his study, painted by William Allan in 1831 (See Russell, Item 10, p. 27).
